On the personal side, Mimi grew up in the Midwest, attended Lake Forest College (75/76), Pensacola Junior College (76-78), married in 1978, moved to Savannah with her husband John in 1980, and raised two wonderful children Christopher (26) & Laura (21). She worked in various fields from 1980 - 2001, banking, shipping, architecture, and tourism journalism and worked on many volunteer projects in schools (Finalist for the J. C. Penny Golden Rule Award), church, & politics. What she considers her most meaningful volunteer project was Co-Founding and Co-Facilitating in 1983 the first Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group in Savannah.
