Mopper–Stapen, Realtors, gets the GOLD!
On July 28 th, the American Cancer Society for the Savannanh/Chatam County area wrapped up their Relay for Life Campaign. The theme for this year’s event was TV shows and the Savannah Board of Realtors chose the show “Survivors”. (how appropriate is that for Relay?) Our camp was decorated to the hilt with palm trees, tiki torches, the survivor immunity area, and “the box” for voting off members. There were approximately 10-15 real estate companies that participated under the Board umbrella – not counting affiliate members such as lenders.
It was great fun, a lot of work, but more importantly we celebrated those that continue to” fight the fight” every day—and the survivors among us. If you have never been to a Relay event, the survivor walk and the lighting of the luminaries will bring tears – it is a very moving ceremony.
Once again, Mopper-Stapen, Realtors participated in this great fundraising event. We had five Realtors committed to raising funds—two of which are survivors. We had a great team –and one of our members, Fran Belloir, received the Grand Club award for raising over $1,000. ($2000+ to be exact). To cap it off the Mopper Team received the Gold award (one of only 10) – which is determined by the number of team members and the total amount raised by the team. We are proud of our team, and their accomplishments—and what it means to the ongoing efforts of the American Cancer Society by bringing awareness of what can be done and what is being done.
At the wrap up event it was announced that the Chatham area had 100 registered teams, and generated over $200,000 for Relay for Life and the important work of the American Cancer Society. Mopper-Stapen, Realtors is proud to be a part of such a great endeavor. See you there in 2009!
